Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw attention to an important initiative undertaken for the benefit of school students in Assam by Samagra Shiksha Axom, Government of Assam. Four volumes of Career Guidance Table Books, developed in collaboration with UNICEF, have recently been brought out for students aspiring to pursue careers in STEM, Non-STEM, Arts, Media & Entertainment, and Vocational sectors. These comprehensive guides, distributed to thousands of schools across the state, provide detailed information on more than 400 career options. The fields covered include Engineering, Information Technology, Health & Wellness, Science, Fishery, Government Services, Defence, Legal Studies, Social Sciences, Education, Banking-Finance-Insurance, Management, Sports, Media, Fine Arts, Design, Logistics, Tourism, Hospitality, and various vocational trades. This initiative is a timely and crucial step toward helping students make informed career choices based on their interests, aptitude, and future aspirations. In today’s rapidly evolving job market, access to authentic and structured career guidance is indispensable, and these guides serve as an invaluable resource.
I commend Samagra Shiksha Axom and UNICEF for this effort and urge wider publicity of this initiative so that maximum students can benefit from it. Such proactive measures can significantly contribute to shaping a skilled, confident, and future-ready workforce in Assam.
