Durex The Birds and Bees Talk Monyul Super League Kicks Off with Grandeur at Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

The first edition of the Monyul Super League, presented by Durex The Birds and Bees Talk and organised by the Tawang District Sports Association, was officially inaugurated today at the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium, Tawang. The much-anticipated event marked a significant milestone in promoting football and sporting culture amongst youth in the Monyul region, bringing together players, dignitaries and enthusiastic spectators from across the district.
The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Phurpa Tsering, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor to the Hon’ble Minister (PWD, Highways, Science & Technology); Smti Tsering Lhamu, Hon’ble MLA cum Advisor to the Hon’ble Minister (Planning & WCD); Shri Namgey Tsering, Hon’ble MLA, Tawang; Former MLA Shri Tsering Tashi; Legendary football icon Shri Bhaichung Bhutia; Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, GOC, Gajraj Corps; Maj Gen Amit Nautiyal, SM, GOC, 5 Mtn Div; Ms Daisy Shah, Bollywood Actress; Dr Komal Goswami, Chief of Party, Plan India; Mrs Supriya Pathak, renowned Bollywood Singer; along with several other distinguished guests, officers and sports enthusiasts.
The ceremony began with the formal inauguration and welcome address, followed by the ceremonial kick-off by Shri Bhaichung Bhutia, who expressed his joy in seeing the growing enthusiasm for football in the state and Monyul region. He praised the efforts of the Tawang District Sports Association for organizing the league and assured full support from his football academy to help nurture and train promising young players from the Monyul region.
Speaking on the association, Mr. Gaurav Jain, Executive Vice President – South Asia, Reckitt, said, “We are proud to partner with the Monyul Super League through Durex The Birds and Bees Talk, a programme committed to empowering youth with life skills, confidence and the ability to make healthy choices. Expressing his gratitude, Shri Namgey Tsering , MLA Tawang said, “I am grateful for the partnership of the first edition of Durex The Birds & Bees Talk presents Monyul Super League, where through this tournament we were able to reach to the youths of the Mon region and foster their interest towards sports and build a healthy lifestyle. I hope that we continue to work for the betterment of the adolescents in collaboration with The Birds & Bees Talk in days to come”.
Adding glamour and entertainment to the evening, Mrs Supriya Pathak enthralled the crowd with her captivating performance of popular Bollywood numbers, setting a joyous and festive mood in the stadium. Her performance was complemented by an energetic dance by the Tani Daughters, who gracefully performed to her songs, winning the hearts of the audience.
Durex The Birds and Bees Talk Monyul Super League features seven teams from Tawang and West Kameng districts, who will compete for the championship trophy over the coming days. The league aims to foster sportsmanship, encourage youth participation and create a strong platform for emerging football talents in the region.
The event witnessed overwhelming public attendance and reflected the collective excitement and unity of the community. The evening concluded with cheers, camaraderie and a shared sense of pride for the region’s sporting aspirations.
The grand finale of the league is scheduled for 25th November, promising more thrilling matches and memorable moments in the days to come.
