Dear Editor,
Many readers have asked me—why was there no formal launch event organized for the book titled Career Haatputhi? In response to this recurring question, I wish to address the matter through this open letter. The Career Haatputhi was first published in 2015 by Anil Anil Baruah, with a total of four editions released by 2018. Thereafter, Pradyut Hazarika of Banalata took over the responsibility of publishing the book. Under Banalata, the first edition was published in June 2023, followed by the second edition in April 2024, and the third edition in December 2024. The book’s cover design did by Suman Das, while Ashim Chutia did the layout design. The Career Haatputhi consists of 509 pages and is priced at ₹350.
Generally, book launch events are organized through press conferences or public gatherings to raise awareness among readers. However, it is often observed that such launch events are only covered in city editions or local pages of newspapers. Even if a photo is published, it mostly highlights the dignitaries who launched the book, with little to no mention of the book title or the author. As a result, the main purpose of spreading awareness about the book remains largely unfulfilled despite investing significant time and resources in organizing such events. Considering all these factors, I decided not to organize a conventional launch event for the Career Haatputhi. Instead, I chose to inform the public about the book through platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Email, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.
This book is a compilation of career-related articles previously published in various newspapers and magazines. I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the editors who provided a platform for these writings. The Career Haatputhi has been specially prepared for students who have completed high school and higher secondary education. It aims to provide them with a clear, organized, and practical understanding of various academic streams and subject relevance, along with future career prospects. I have also come to know that many individuals, institutions, and organizations have gifted this book as a prize in school and college week competitions, added it to institutional libraries, and presented it to students who have successfully passed their high school or higher secondary examinations. I express my deep gratitude to all readers, well-wishers, and organizations for their wholehearted support and acceptance. For the upcoming editions of the Career Haatputhi, I would be grateful to receive suggestions from readers about new topics that should be included to make the book even more useful for students.
