■ In a major success against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with DRI, recovered Heroin valued at approximately ₹5.85 Crore in Cachar District, Assam.
The operation was conducted on 04 November 2025 near Sonabarighat, during which a consignment of narcotics being transported in a vehicle was intercepted.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of illicit drugs in the region, Assam Rifles team swiftly launched the operation. Two individuals, residents of Chandel District, were also apprehended.
The vehicle used for transportation has been seized, along with two mobile phones from the suspects.
Assam Rifles continues to play a pivotal role in curbing the menace of narcotics in the Northeast. Through sustained and coordinated operations with other enforcement agencies, the Force remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and safeguarding the youth from the perils of drug abuse.
