Assam Rifles launched an extensive search operation in Makhabasti Village alongwith Manipur Police in Jiribam District, Manipur. This operation comes amidst the coordinated crackdown of Assam Rifles with Manipur Police on any miscreants hampering peace and stability in the region, with an operation resulting in the apprehension of an active cadre of NSCN (Niki Sumi) within the same week.
Assam Rifles has been relentlessly working on recovering arms, ammunition and explosives that are still in possession of any individuals, including ones that had been looted during the unrest. As part of the recovery during the search one 7.62mm SLR Rifle, one locally made SLR Rifle, one 5.56mm INSAS Rifle, one 5.56mm M4 Carbine, four locally made Single Barrel Rifles, one locally made Pistol, one Pompi with four Pompi bombs, one No 36 Hand Grenade, few rifle Magazines, nine 7.62mm SLR Rifle rounds, five 5.56mm INSAS Rifle rounds, sixty 7.62mm AK-47 rounds, Cortex and approximately 200 grams of PEK were recovered during the operation.
The search operation was aimed at recovering the huge cache based on specific intelligence, posing a significant threat to public safety and security.
Assam Rifles has been working closely with local authorities to maintain peace in Jiribam District, reiterating that no one will be spared, miscreants already identified and on the radar will be taken to task. The locals were seen praising the efforts of the force in maintaining peace in the region.
