Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the PM Vishwakarma Scheme for traditional artisans & crafts people on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti in New Delhi. Modi also launched PM Vishwakarma logo, tagline, portal and released a customized stamp sheet, a tool kit e-booklet and video on the occasion. He distributed Vishwakarma certificates to 18 beneficiaries.
Underlining the contribution and importance of Vishwakarmas in everyday life, Modi commented that they will always remain significant in society, no matter the advancements made in technology. Throwing light on 18 focus areas of artisans & craftsmen, he also informed that carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, sculptors, potters, cobblers, tailors, masons, hairdressers, washermen etc. have been included in the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal joined the noble endeavour from Guwahati and commented that it will help create a new ecosystem of Atmanirbhar Bharatiyas, equipped to compete with the best of the world. With the empowerment of traditional artisans, India takes another step forward towards becoming an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Sonowal was accompanied by State minister Bimal Borah, Parliamentarians Queen Oja, Pabitra Margherita, GMC mayor Mrigen Saraniya and among other officials.
