Letter to the Editor:
Dear Editor,
Some coaching centres conduct scholarship tests primarily as a strategy to collect students’ contact details. After acquiring this information, these centres announce a certain percentage of fee concession for coaching related to competitive examinations, based on the test results. Subsequently, they impose artificial enrollment deadlines and persistently contact students through repeated phone calls, pressuring them to enroll without proper consideration. In such circumstances, it is essential for students to understand a key point — a fee concession alone should not be the sole reason for taking admission in any coaching centre. It is important to note that coaching is not a mandatory requirement for success in competitive examinations. Many students achieve success through self-study and strategic planning, without relying on coaching support.
If a student decides to enroll in a coaching centre, it is wise and farsighted to carefully evaluate the quality of education provided by the centre, the experience of the faculty, its previous results, the structure and content of the curriculum, and most importantly, the student’s personal goals and individual learning needs before making a final decision.
