● Guwahati: On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti ( 17
September), a northeast Bharat based engineers’ forum, greets everyone
commenting that each individual has an engineering mind irrespective
of their adopted professions. Lord Vishwakarma is considered as
Swayambhu and divine engineer of the world, commented All Assam
Engineer’s Association (AAEA).
Son of Lord Brahma, Vishwakarma is also known as the draftsman of the
whole universe and also the official builder of all the godly palaces
mentioned in the Hindu mythology. Worshiping the god of engineers,
each and every mechanic, smith, craftsman, artisans, factory worker,
industrial employees, etc pray for a safe working condition,
relentless success and a better future for every human being.
Earlier, on Engineers Day (15 September), AAEA hailed the engineering
fraternity in particular. The auspicious day is observed in several
countries on different dates. As the name indicates, the day is
dedicated to the engineers and it marks the birth anniversary of
finest civil engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya.
Born on 15 September 1861 at Muddenahalli village in Karnataka,
Vishweshvaraya completed his graduation in civil engineering from Pune
Science College. As an honour to his contributions to the field of
engineering and education, the Union government in New Delhi in 1968
declared Vishweshvaraya’s birth anniversary to be observed as the
Engineers Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to Diwan of Mysore,
Vishweshvaraya while greeting the engineers across the world saying
that no words are enough to thank the engineers for their pivotal
role in making the planet better and technologically advanced.
Union home minister Amit Shah along with various eminent personalities
across the country also joined the chorus offering Engineers Day
greetings to brilliant engineers who are constantly striving towards
the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through their amazing innovations.
Engineers are considered as the backbone of every nation. India
continues to produce more than 1.5 million engineers every year from
its over 4000 institutes and it is one of the largest producers of
professional engineers across the world. Indian engineers are always
recognised in different countries for their meticulous thought process
and skills to solve various problems, said AAEA president Er Kailash
Sarma and secretary Er Inamul Hye.
Need not to mention that millions of aspiring students appear in
entrance examinations for getting admissions to favoured engineering
colleges & universities in India, where the students are offered
several streams of engineering like civil, mechanical, electrical,
aeronautical, chemical, environmental, electronics, computer science,
etc. The annual celebration helps the engineers to reorganize their
commitment to the nation.
