Guwahati, 3rd January: Welcoming the New Year with melody, a new Assamese song titled “Xorotor Podulit” was released today (03.01.2026) on the YouTube channel Srishti Sonic, offering a special musical treat to listeners.
The song is sung by Srishti (Julika) Borphukan, a law graduate and an accomplished vocalist. She was once adjudged the best performer in the women’s wing of J.B. College, Jorhat, and later received inter-college level recognition. Over the years, Srishti has built a distinct identity among music lovers through popular audio cassettes such as Monmoyuri, Sapunor Marami, Sonaru 99, Jadu, Kiyo Anjali, and others. A trained classical singer, she has also been deeply engaged in the practice of Borgeet. Several of her songs have been aired on Jorhat FM Radio, and her performances have featured on various satellite television channels. She earlier received widespread appreciation for the song “Kun Tumi Duronir”, sung alongside Zubeen Garg. “Xorotor Podulit” marks her latest release as a solo vocalist.
The lyrics, composition, and video concept of the song have been crafted by Anup Baruah, while the music has been done by Pallab Talukdar. Instrumental support has been provided by Raja Baruah, Jibanta Apurba, and Subhankar Hazarika, with mixing by Karnel.
The music video features graceful performances by popular actress and Kathak dancer Megharanjani Medhi, alongside Dipankar Gayan. The choreography has been jointly designed by Megharanjani Medhi and Barnali Kalita. The video is directed by Samin Das and edited by Manas Kashyap. Rituparna Bora has designed the poster, Anup Dutta has contributed the calligraphy, and Hirak Das has handled the make-up.
Released at the very beginning of the New Year, “Xorotor Podulit” is expected to resonate strongly with music lovers, say members of the creative team associated with the project.
