Borluit Productions announces the launch of Assamese feature film ‘Dipholu’

Guwahati; August 16, 2024: Borluit Productions, renowned for its award-winning short films, announced the commencement of shooting for their debut full-length feature film, ‘Dipholu’ during a press conference on Wednesday. The film promises to deliver a captivating blend of situational comedy and emotional depth, marking a significant milestone in the production company’s journey.

‘Dipholu’ marks Borluit Productions’ first venture into feature-length cinema, following the success of their acclaimed short films ‘Akaax Bisari – Into the Sky’ and ‘Rong – The Colour’. Building on the artistry and storytelling excellence of their previous works, this new project sets the stage for a compelling cinematic experience.

Featuring Amrita Gogoi and Subrat Deori in leading roles, with Arun Nath, Chetana Das, Mridula Barua, Jayanta Bhagawati, and Arun Hazarika rounding out the talented cast, the film promises to deliver an engaging narrative. The cast also features Dr. Hitesh Baruah, Simashree Bora, Rajib Dowari, Anirban Kalita, Ankur Baidya, Priyanshi Kashyap, Kanika Nath, Dibya Pratim Bhagabati, Prabal Bora, Nilofer Nazbin and Nasim Begum.

‘Dipholu’ follows the journey of Kuhi (Amrita Gogoi), a young woman from Guwahati who is posted to a remote village on the banks of the Dipholu River as part of her medical training. As Kuhi navigates the challenging conditions of the village and the dilapidated local healthcare facility, she encounters Neel (Subrat Deori), a humble school teacher. Their initial clash of worlds evolves into a heartwarming journey of personal growth and community impact. The film explores her evolution from a materialistic, city-centric dreamer to a compassionate, grounded individual through a series of humorous and heartfelt experiences.

The film’s story, direction, and editing are helmed by Nekib, with the screenplay and dialogues crafted by Debojit Bora. Uttam Kalita is in charge of cinematography, while Narayan Medhi oversees art direction. The music and background score, composed by Jekib, who also serves as the film’s producer, add depth to the narrative. Jitul Rajbongshi leads as the Chief Assistant Director, supported by Debasish Deka and Afiron Nisha. The project features costumes designed by Juri Kalita and makeup by Pijumoni Sharma. Utpal Kalita has been appointed as the Production Manager. Life’s Purple, a Guwahati-based PR and Reputation Management Consultancy, will manage the film’s Public Relations and Social Media Campaign.

In addition to this exciting new release, the event on Wednesday also marked the official release of Borluit Productions’ critically acclaimed short film ‘Rong – The Colour’. The short film has garnered numerous awards at national and international film festivals, earning widespread recognition for its powerful storytelling and visual excellence. ‘Rong – The Colour’ has been celebrated across the globe and is now available for viewers on Borluit Productions’ YouTube channel.
