The Assam Rifles and Indian Airforce have showed stellar coordination and
professionalism during the appealing times of Assam Flood situation.
A sortie
of C130J aircraft performed emergency Night landing at Silchar Airport on
24 Jun 22 to supply essential flood rescue stores. Srikona Battalion of
Headquarter 21 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter
Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) of Spear Corps received the essential
these flood relief columns to conduct live saving flood rescue missions
during the unprecedented rains resulted in heavy flow of water in Barak
River, flooding entire city of Silchar.
Heavy rains have been lashing the city
since 20 Jun 22 leaving several habitats flooded and normal traffic affected
at quite a number of places. Srikona Battalion of Assam Rifles have been
carrying out intense rescue operations in conjunction with Indian Army,
Indian Airforce and Civil administration for consecutive five days.
Thousands
of lives of stranded people have been saved during last five days of intense
rescue operations. The locals have expressed gratitude for the Assam rifles
for the selfless service rendered during these difficult times of natural calamity.
