Lokra Battalion under the aegis of HQ Sect 21 and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) ferried patients from Cachar Cancer Hospital Silchar in Cachar District,
Assam on 01 July 2022. The on going flood situation in Cachar district has isolated the Hospital and made it
inaccessible by roads
due to which pateints were either stuck in the hospital or couldn’t reach. Lokra Battalion
immediately launched a rescue operation to evacuate the pateints and also made arrangements to make
people reach the hospital by ferry boats.
Approximately 150 pateints were rescued and ferried to their destinations.Medical aid and assistance was also provided to the pateints in need and the locals of the area by setting up a medical aid post.
