On 08 Dec 25, acting on specific intelligence, a team of Assam Rifles in coordination with Cachar Police carried out a successful operation in general area Tarapur, Silchar recovering 3,060 packets of illegal Esse Lite cigarettes with an approximate market value of ₹1.83 crore.
Two individuals, Hanannan Husain Burnhuiya, resident of Islamabad, Cachar and Islamuddin Laskar, resident of Bagha, Cachar were also apprehended in connection with the seizure. In this connection a Scorpio vehicle was also seized.
The operation reaffirms unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles towards curbing smuggling and safeguarding the region from illegal trade activities.
