● Assam Rifles organised a security cum interaction meeting at Henchungpunchee, Pherzwal District, Manipur, on 09 April 2026 to enhance coordination with local stakeholders and reinforce peace measures in the region.
The meeting was attended by Company Commander along with representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), village chairmen, and community leaders from surrounding villages. Key issues discussed included zero tolerance towards illegal arms and narcotics, emphasis on pre-emptive measures to prevent unrest and the need to avoid provocative actions or statements by local leaders.
CSOs were urged to verify information before dissemination to curb rumours and misinformation. Focus was also laid on monitoring night movement, regulating inter-village transit, and promptly reporting any suspicious activities, including movement of unknown individuals or stockpiling of suspicious materials.
Community leaders were further encouraged to discourage harbouring of armed cadres and take proactive steps to prevent youth radicalisation.
