Biswanath Chariali, 17 November: Today newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Biswanath Mr. Deba Kumar Mishra chaired a District Development Committee (DDC) meeting where he reviewed the work of various departments. Head of all departments were present at the meeting and they gave a detailed reports of progress of various projects and scheme under their implementation to the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was held at Sakomatha Block Development Office.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the departmental heads to take personal interests to ensure that implementation of projects and schemes are expedited across the district. “My motto is to develop the district. You all have to be sincere to your duties. We have to move closer to people so that benefits of the government and administration reach them,” said Mr. Mishra.
Among the schemes reviewed, the DC laid emphasis on fast and efficient implementation of the rope-way project, Jal Jeeval Mission (JJM), construction of Medical College, irrigation projects, among others, in the district. He also laid stress on efficient revenue generation by revenue earning departments.
Taking the problem of undernourishment among children in tea garden areas of Biswanath district with all seriousness, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner directed for constitution of a committee for charting out a proper road map to address the issue. The committee would consist of heath department, social welfare department and education department. He also issued instruction to establish a Help Desk at Employment Exchanges to assist youth in filing online applications.
Today’s meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ms. Liza Talukdar ADC Dr. Surya Kamal Borah, SDO (Sadar) Mr. Dipan Barman and Assistant Commissioner Ms. Ananya Lahkar.
